No More Excuses is a leggy, gorgeous daughter of Maryland’s long-time leading sire Not For Love (now also the broodmare sire of Kentucky Derby winner and Horse of the Year California Chrome), and she was a hard-knocking runner on the racetrack, taking 14 of her 48 starts during a six-year career with her victories coming from 4 furlongs to 6-1/2 furlongs on turf and dirt (fast, muddy and sloppy). Two of her victories came in allowance company, and she often went straight to the front, showing plenty of speed. She earned $227,720.
No More Excuses is the second foal out of her dam, the winning Kafwain mare Lucky Dance, and she sold as a yearling for $102,000 out of the Chanceland Farm consignment at Timonium. After she sold as a yearling, No More Excuses’s half-brother Kaitain (by Kitalpha) won five races and $229,413 while placing in a pair of stakes races, and her half-brother Saratoga Bob (by Friesan Fire) won four races and $235,962, with his victories including the Maryland Million Classic.
Lucky Dance is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Broadway Producer (by Not For Love, and thus a 3/4-brother to No More Excuses), as well as to the winner Lucky Bridle, who is also the dam of Maryland Million Distaff winner Lionhearted Lady (by Lion Hearted). Lucky Dance is out of the stakes winner Lucky Sword (by Sword Dance).
No More Excuses was bred to one of our favorite Maryland stallions in 2020, Imagining — read here why we think he’ll make an ideal first mate for her. After she delivers her first foal this spring, she’ll be bred back to Goldencents.
