Paynter (by Awesome Again out of Tizso, by Cee’s Tizzy) was a brilliant Grade 1 winner for Bob Baffert who became a fan favorite after he overcame a bout of laminitis and successfully returned to the races. As a stallion, he has consistently been among the leaders of his sire crop, with 15 stakes winners so far from his first three crops, including Grade 1-winning 2YO Knicks Go (who added the 2020 G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile to his resume), 2020 Grade 3 winner Harpers First Ride, 2020 Canadian classic winner Merveilleux, 2020 2YO stakes winner Positivity, etc.
His stats make him excellent value at his 2021 advertised stud fee of $7,500 LFSN, and he is the perfect stallion to start out a young mare’s breeding career. Chris McGrath recently highlighted Paynter’s appeal in the TDN.
A tall, strong-bodied horse with great balance and bone, Paynter is by the leading sire Awesome Again (also sire of HOTY and leading sire Ghostzapper) out of a full-sister to HOTY and leading sire Tiznow.

He stands at stud at WinStar Farm in Kentucky.
